LookTech, the smartglasses that can beat RayBan Meta

Looktech.ai promises to be a turning point in the development of smart glasses with extraordinary specifications.

At the moment they are nothing more than a project within the Prelaunch.com website which came out just a few days ago, but I have to admit that it hit me hard seeing what they promise. I will be cautious. We already know that this is not the first time that they promise and do not fulfill it.

And by the way, this is not promoted, nor is it an advertisement, nor is it a recommendation to buy. It is a personal opinion, and as they say, DYOR or “Do your own research.” But let’s get to the point.

LookTech Specifications

As we can see in the image, the summary would be as follows:

  • Microphones and speakers:We're told it will come equipped with high resolution, noise cancellation, and a system to prevent sound leakage. It sounds too good, but I don't really see the glasses as a place to listen to music, so decent quality will do.

In addition, the use of bone conduction style headphones allows you to carry them without missing anything around you, making them ideal for walking down the street without the risk of being run over...

  • Camera: They say on their website that apart from the 13MP for 4k photography and the possibility of recording in FHD 1080p at 30FPS, it comes with more options. I quote verbatim:

Video editing with artificial intelligence technology: AI Video Creator automatically turns your clips into trending social content by identifying standout moments and adding music and subtitles.

Images on the web must be taken with a grain of salt. We will soon see the real images to get an idea of the exact quality. And by the way, unlike the Ray-Ban Meta They say it will record in horizontal mode instead of vertical.

  • Physical buttons: I have to admit that I personally like it that way. The touch buttons still give me a hard time and I find that on many occasions they don't respond the way I want or I end up touching them by accident.

It has buttons for the camera, music and artificial intelligence, but don't worry. You will be able to control your smartglasses just with your voice. At least when it comes to dealing with AI and asking for something.

  • The battery: According to what they have said, the battery would last about 14 hours. It is true that It is not known if they are talking about continuous use, standby or with the microphone or the camera on. Personally, I think that's not enough, but we'll see how it behaves.

Artificial Intelligence in LookTech AI

One of the strong points of these gadgets and the reason I am talking about them is precisely the incorporation of AI into the device, and of course this one was not going to be an exception. And it is very interesting…

As you can see and According to what they say on the website where they will launch it It's not just that it has built-in AI, but depending on the action to be performed it will use the latest Gemini model, Claude 3.5 or GPT 4th, providing us with the best answer.

They also talk about a series of really useful uses of this artificial intelligence:

  • The AI that knows you: By using the artificial intelligence models we have discussed, smartglasses will serve a purpose dedicated to us, remembering conversations, preferences and questions previous ones, just as we do today.
  • Audio recording: As if it were a Limitless Thanks to the microphones in the glasses, we can record audio, transcribe it, summarize it and work with it in text format. Imagine meetings or classes that last so long and you have to take notes.
  • Plant library: I imagine that will be based on recognition image and although they have given this example of plants, it will work with buildings, sculptures and even signs and posters like in other devices with AI.
  • Calorie counter: Apparently, and thanks to this recognition through the camera, you can even know the calories you are taking just by looking at your plate. As before, I imagine that these are specific uses through the camera.

In addition to all these, the official website says that it will be compatible with many more applications in the future. Let's see if it's true. I'm not looking at anyone. @Rabbitr1

The price of LookTech smartglasses

This is one of the most interesting parts of this project, without a doubt. These glasses will be launched with a starting price of €349, very much in the style of the Ray-Ban Meta, But if you go to the Prelaunch.com website and If you reserve for €2, you can get them for €199.

If it is true that everything that is promised ends up being fulfilled, €199 would be a more than fair price to buy them. Economically, it would break the price of the closest competition, at least in the form of pre-sale.

This thread is not sponsored, but If you make your reservation on Prelaunch.com you could access a discount of a 5% through this link.

My opinion on LookTech

As of this writing, Looktech's smartphones are just a project/prototype that, like all others, sounds amazing in the development phase, where they promise a million things and each of the sections turns out to be fantastic.

But we don't have anything really. On the Prelaunch website there is a set of questions and answers and little else. No images that I can verify are real, no test videos or anything. Exciting? Very much so, but there is little or no truth to it.

It is one of those gadgets that, like the Rabbit R1, for the price it has, may be a card that you want to play, but I do not see in it a solid, finished and trustworthy product.

In one of the questions that users ask, they comment that They expect the launch within 2 or 3 months, but they don't even talk about financing - beyond the €2 reservation price - or buying before launch or anything like that.

Let's see what all this turns out to be...
