In a live demonstration, Jesse Lyu shows how real-time translation works
The weeks of waiting are getting long for me —and I have 6 months left to receive it— but in the meantime, as if they were little information pills, Jesse Lyu is going launching some tests of what he is doing to test the Rabbit R1.
The entire story of these videos begins through a Tweet (X) from Bethany Bongiorno, co-creator of Humane, another of the artificial intelligence gadgets that recently came onto the market and a direct competitor—at least on paper—of Rabbit's friends.
In the Tweet, Bethany shows how her PIN is able to read the KitKat package that has Japanese text and tells him exactly what it says, as well as giving him a brief explanation. Well… The response from the CEO of Rabbit Inc. was not only immediate, but it was also quite forceful… Translated into Spanish:
Easy. The R1 is faster.
And that's how it all ended.
Indeed the response time in the Rabbit R1 is noticeably shorter, and in addition, Lyu himself has confirmed that they are working on limiting voice after interaction to cut times even further. This means that R1 does not constantly say «Let me see» and respond immediately.
We hope that all these improvements will be implemented little by little and also that we can see them more often.
I leave you the translated video of the three tests they did recently. One with Japanese, another in Cyrillic and a third in which it shows an update of the User Interface and in which it shows how it responds to the weather.
