What problems does the first Rabbit r1 Update fix?
We knew very well that it would not take long for them to release a first update of the Rabbit r1 operating system. What I didn't expect is that it took them just a week to do it. since its launch. It seems like they've gotten their act together.
And there have been not a few complaints from some users regarding the release of the Rabbit r1 and the state of the gadget's operating system, which caused some bugs and compatibility problems in some areas of use.
What the new Rabbit r1 Update includes
As we can see in the statement that Simon B. made on Discord, this first RabbitOS update is going to bring substantial changes and many of them fix basic problems of the device. Let's break it down.
Introduction to update
Hello everyone! 👋 in case you missed it, we will be releasing a software update for all Rabbit r1s imminently be sure to plug the r1 into a charger and connect to wifi to get the update.
As you know, we move quickly here at Rabbit and are thrilled to publish this first update less than a week after the first community members picked up their devices in New York City 🏙️
Enjoy and be sure to keep sharing your thoughts and comments.
It is important that in order to receive the updates via OTA you have to have the Rabbit connected to the Wi-Fi network to download it and especially that it is plugged into the power to avoid blackouts or cuts during the update, since it could be permanently damaged if it is left halfway.
Here is our first software update for r1.
We are always open to your feedback on what to improve and what new features you find useful.
In the future, we will constantly implement two types of software updates:
1- Over-the-air updates (OTA):
This type of software update is sent directly to your device and you will need to follow your device's instructions to update it. This will not cause you to lose any information on your device, similar to how you receive updates on your smartphone.
2- Cloud update:
These are improvements to Rabbit OS that are made in the cloud, meaning our engineering team makes these updates when they are ready. You don't need to do anything with your device to benefit from these updates.
RabbitOS update news
These are the main new features that the update brings to the operating system.
– Idle battery performance improved up to 5x
One of the main problems that have been reported The Rabbit R1's battery was short. It seems that they have found something that created a root drain and have fixed it by multiplying its diration by 5 times. Hopefully it will be like that.
– Added time zone selection to r1 settings menu / correct r1 time zone based on GPS location
They were also reported time and time zone errors, which generated quite a few problems when configuring the device. Also detected thanks to the Discord community.
– Improved music playback UI in r1
They have improved the user interface of the Spotify player, which gave some errors when playing songs forward and pause or play.
– Improved detection of server connections and freeing of bound resources
– Improved reliability for Bluetooth connectivity
Some were reported defects in Bluetooth connections with some accessories such as wireless headphones.
– Improved stability in meeting assistant/recorder for longer periods of time
Already they had done tests of up to 1 hour, but it seems that after a certain time it became unstable and lost track. It seems resolved in this first update of the Rabbit r1.
– Rabbit OS is more aware of when to use GPS to check your location and how to take advantage of that information.
I suppose this has also been crucial when it comes to improve the r1 battery, since GPS is particularly aggressive in terms of battery consumption.
– Improved accuracy regarding time-related information during conversation
What's new in the Rabbit Hole update
– Improved loading UI
– Improved error messages when your session expires
– Improved QR code readability
– More informative TTS error messages for spreadsheet queries
In the case of the Rabbit Hole it seems that the vast majority of The changes brought by this update are aesthetic, although the fact that they have improved the QR code reader and above all that they are tinkering with everything that has to do with spreadsheets is very beneficial.
