It's only been a couple of days since Jesse Lyu made the first unboxing of the Rabbit r1 at the Pickup Party from the TWA hotel in New York in which he showed the past, present and future of the device controlled by artificial intelligence. Let's focus on the last two, present and future.

As for the future, as I showed above, the potential of the Rabbit r1 is simply overwhelming. New features, new applications, Teach mode and the development of the LAM… It seems that they have no roof and as he said Simon B.: «The sky is the limit«

Comparisons to the Humane AI Pin

Although it is true that the present of the Rabbit r1 was what generated the most tension. dAfter the failure of the Humane AI Pin release, all eyes were on the r1 as a direct rival in terms of Artificial Intelligence devices.

The silence of Marques Brownlee, the absence of test units and that until the official presentation no one was able to test the Rabbit r1 made many raise an eyebrow and wonder why so much mystery?

But nothing mysterious, and the fact is that in the presentation everything was seen, and what is better, right after, different influencers and Youtubers, already with the device in our hands, they have delighted us with their reviews and first impressions. No filters and all the freedom in the world to be able to give an open opinion about the Rabbit r1.

The review of the Rabbit r1 from Unbox Therapy

With almost 24 million users, Unbox Therapy was one of the first channels to test the Rabbit r1, and that video has more than 2 million views to date, 3 days after the device was presented by Jesse Liu.

Probably There is no better advertising for R1 sales than this type of video-reviews made by the greatest technological communicators on the Internet, since they are the ones who encourage users to end up buying the technology they analyze.

In the video, he does different tests such as searches and vision mode, which we have known for a long time, but it is striking that one of the tests he does Lewis Hilsenteger is to ask about the Toronto Maple Leaf, without context and without telling him exactly what he was asking about. R1 without hesitation told him about the Canadian ice hockey team. Easy, right?

Again he asks another question, without giving context, why? well to see how Rabbit R1's long-term memory is doing and if it is able to relate ideas between questions. And boy can it. It can perfectly. So much so that he ends up asking several questions about the topic and answers correctly.

Vision mode

Regarding the vision mode, it is curious, because it not only recognizes the object in the foreground, but R1 comes to realize that at the back of the room there is another person in the background and responds to us with the type of clothes he is wearing or the place he occupies. Truly amazing.

Unbox Therapy video where it detects the subject sitting at the desk

He also turns out to be able to read, and by showing him an image of a text is able to recognize each of the words in the text. These specifications seem truly wonderful to me in terms of accessibility.

He also seems to be able to do current searches of the environment that is presented to him, since hee offers Lewis a series of leisure options to do depending on the price you want to spend and present different plans such as going to a park for a picnic or taking a walk through one of Toronto's distinctive neighborhoods. It gets you out of trouble if you don't know what to do on a Saturday with your friends.

Lastly, talk about the success that has been in creating specific hardware for that software and how it has allowed buyers to feel it as an added value in addition to understanding that it occupies a different place than a mobile phone does, with which I completely agree.

Could it be a step towards new technological development?

iJustine and her review of the Rabbit r1

On the other hand we have Justine, from iJustine channel with more than 7 million followers, in which it does a detailed unboxing from the beginning, showing both the device and the travel case which Jesse Lyu already showed us at the Pickup Party and which has been specifically designed to be able to transport the R1 and avoid scratches as well as to support it while we have it on the desk.

In this review, he shows us all the part of device activation and first start-up as well as the upload in which the little rabbit is seen running in a wheel as if it were a hamster.

It must be recognized that they have taken care of all the design details down to the smallest detail, which shows the care they have put into the gadget. I imagine they must have a UX team —user experience— of the most dedicated.

Vision mode

In this video we also see how "vision mode" works and is able to read some signs on the street, interpret them and advise us on what they tell us. I think it will be a great travel companion. But it tests two other specifications that must also be taken into account.

iJustine ordering food through the Rabbit r1

I tested the functions of ordering food from a restaurant through Doordash and ordering an UBER to the airport in real time, both with more than satisfactory results. It is really impressive that, being the first version (there are still no updates, although they are planned for next week), it works as well as it does.

Other reviews

Discord, Twitter and Instagram They have been filled with user experiences with their r1, and almost all of them have been extremely positive, which shows that although there was skepticism prior to the launch - which is always a good thing - it has cleared all doubts regarding the output quality of the Rabbit r1.

Now we can only wait for the future that is yet to come and which I hope will be as bright as the present…
